How to Navigate an Uncertain World

We’re entering uncertain times right now. War in Europe. Inflation. The impending possibility of a recession (maybe already happening?).

Except… that was the case for all of the last two years, right? I mean the “uncertain” part, not the specifics. Pandemic, lockdown, social unrest….

And recently I saw a clip of myself saying basically the exact same thing in 2019, before any of that. So maybe this is nothing new. Maybe this is just life.

I’ve spoken about the long game before and how incredibly important it is to plant the seeds and maintain a vision for yourself that is bigger than what you’re currently going through. Something that goes far beyond any high or low you’re currently living through.

Never is this more important than right now, and every moment when uncertainty threatens to capsize the boat. That is what this newsletter is about.

The following are what I see as useful reminders to combat uncertainty:

I. Running Sucks by Van Neistat – it sucks, but you have to do it anyway.

II. How to convince yourself to do hard things – useful in setting perspective.

IV. The Psychology of MoneyI linked here a short video summary of the book but I highly recommend reading or listening to the book itself. It’s chock full of amazing reminders that I felt I needed.

Here’s a quote from its pages:

“Financial success is not a hard science. It’s a soft skill, where how you behave is more important than what you know. I call this soft skill the psychology of money.”
