Your Internal Universe is a Beautiful Place

The world that we live in feels like it’s making less and less sense. Or maybe I’m just thinking more critically and finding all kinds of inconsistencies everywhere I look.

Sometimes, I am somehow at peace with the contradictory nature of the world, and other times it’s unignorable. “Overwhelming” is the word I often use to describe how I feel about what is happening around me.

So, here are 4 things I wanted to share that help me re-center and make sense of things.

I. There are Always 2 Things Happening in Your Life:

In every moment, there is 1) the thing that takes place (objective) and 2) what we choose to believe about it (subjective).

The thing is, you can only control one of those things: what you choose to believe about it.

I know that’s a little mind-bending, but wrapping your brain around this will change your life.

(there’s a name for this: Stoicism)

II. Truth is felt.

It’s incredible to me that you can somehow know when something is true by feeling it. I don’t mean this in a specific, calculated sense. Someone may say something to you that is false and you might not catch it.

I’m talking about bigger truths of life. You can feel when something is right. You can feel if it aligns with who you are, and thats the truth I’m referring to.

III. A quote from Bill Murray:

“The more relaxed you are, the better you are at everything: the better you are with your loved ones, the better you are with your enemies, the better you are at your job, the better you are with yourself.”

IV. It feels like I’m spending my entire adult life rediscovering what I already somehow knew as a child.

If we are indeed closer to God when we first begin life (which I do believe), then is it not in our higher interest to prioritize a relationship with our child selves?

We all came with so much wisdom before the “education” in conformity we all received as we grew up and entered adulthood.
